March-Westin Grinds Up Nutty C’s
MW returned to action with a new found hunger Monday night. After the originally scheduled game against Sunnyside Superette was canceled Nutty C’s agreed to play a double header with their second game of the night taking on the league leading March-Westin.
The soaring heat-index Monday evening was not enough to slow down March-Westin as they started the evening off with a lead-off home run courtesy of the speedy Jackson, quickly setting the tone for the night.
MW scored two runs in the first inning but really started to find the groove in the third and fourth innings where they posted 5 and 8 runs respectively. Other than Jacksons in-the-park home run and a blast by Nick over the center field wall (see Chasing Bonds Update below) MW showcased it’s well balanced offensive power with every player on the roster recording at least one base hit.
Tom and Dave both went 3-3; in fact, Tom scored three times Monday night (there’s a phrase you don’t hear too often).
Other notable performances once again include Nick who in addition to his daily dinger also stomped out a triple in the 4th inning. Jonathan racked up a pair of doubles, and James was once again spot on from the mound.
MW walked off the field with a sweat-soaked 15-5 victory, putting their record at 12-1.
The scorebook can be viewed here.
March-Westin (1) will take on Chestnut Ridge Blue (8) Thursday night at 6.

I (and the rest of the team) blame me for the John Howard loss. My vacancy caused the lineup change. My personal mantra this year is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and I caused a change. Unlike last seasons ill-timed vacation (missing 4 games and returning in an 0 for 9 slump) I only missed one game and came back swinging. I was glad I could contribute to Nick’s astounding RBI total for the year. I feel that offensively I am a lot like Derek Jeter. Lots of hits to center and right-center. I set the table for the big guys. And so you know, I welcome comments of praise.
*rolls eyes*
whatever you say coach tom.
(did he really just compare himself to Derek Jeter)
We both bat 2nd for our teams. We both have a high batting avg. We both make millions of dollars a year… Ok, maybe we aren’t that similar.
He was also voted the most overrated player in baseball in a Sports Illustrated survey of 470 major leaguers in 2006.

Scott, you better check the lineup at the next game. There might be a change (omission).
