March-Westin ready for Prime Time

Not even pouring rain could stop MW’s offensive attack as they took on #3 Prime Thyme Saturday afternoon. All other boparc games may have been canceled for the day, but these athletes are ready to play rain, or shine. And as you can tell from these radar images, there was a lot more rain than there was shine on the field during the hour long game.

Once again March-Westin got things started early as they rattled off 9 runs in the first inning. MW boasted home runs by Tom, Tyler, Dave and Wimer. Jackson took a step closer to catching up with long ball leader Nick by reminding everyone in attendance that it’s not the size of the stick, it’s all about hittin’ the sweet spot. And Scott managed to keep his blast to left field in the park as he stretched the warning track shot into a standup triple.
All was not perfect for MW though, the traditionally sure gloved Nick recorded three errors in the feild, however one could argue that at least one of the passed balls could be blamed on the rain, but I was unsure how to record that in the scorebook.

MW did have some defensive highlights such as the three double plays, one of which came from Johnny picking off a runner trying to sneak over to second base after a close play at third.

Another performance that just cannot go without mention is Wimers inability to hit the ball forward in the 5th inning, thus leading to his first foul out of the season.

Nick recapped it best when talking about the afternoons game and comparing it to MWs loss earlier this season “only 2 runs, you just cant win like that in this league, and we can vouch for that.”

Final score: March-Westin 21, Prime Thyme 3.

March-Westin will face Advantage Monday night at 10pm.

The scorebook can be viewed here, and I would like to thank the lovely umpires for setting a backdrop of legs for the photo, always a nice touch.

Chasing Bonds Update: Nick-6, Amie-4, Jackson-3, Tom-1

    Nick caught a typo.

Well it’s good to know he can at least catch something.
