No commentsMW Sears Franks Bar & Grill
March-Westin got off to a slow start Tuesday night as they faced Franks in the second game of this playoff series. But the poor hitting didn’t last long as they rattled off a 9 run third inning which continued to shake an already rattled Franks infield.
Franks showed flashes of its ugly side early in the game as players argued with one another both on the bench and across the field.
MW didn’t let the bickering distract them, with offensive production that included home runs from Jackson and Wimer (although wimer was not credited due to division AA rules). Nick went 4-4 with two doubles and a triple. Randy went 4-5, and Coach Tom managed to snap his 5-year hitting slump, going 2-4 with two walks on the evening. Tom also showed his undying grit and determination as he collided with Franks first baseman while attempting to beat out a ground ball.
Westin was more than just offense though, lead by Scotts 8 catches in left center field Franks just could not get any kind of respectable rally going. In fact the left and right center fielders (Scott and Tom) together accounted for over ½ of the games put outs.
Final score: March-Westin 22, Franks 13.
The scorebook for the game can be viewed here.
March-Westin will face the winner of the John Howard/Webworks series in the championship next week at 6pm.
No commentsMarch Westin continues Playoff March
March Westin returned to its winning ways by 10 running Franks Bar & Grill on Monday night to grab a one game to zero lead in the second round of the playoffs.
The game was close until the 3rd inning when March Westin scored 8 runs, thanks to a grand slam by Randy, to give themselves an 11-2 lead. March Westin finally put the game away in the bottom of the 5th thanks to Scott’s game winning single (his 2nd game winning hit in a row) to give them 16-6 victory.
The Legion (Dave, Nick, Scott, and Wimer) was a dominant force the entire night for March Westin. The Legion scored 10 of the 16 runs while also going 15-16 at the plate.
March Westin plays Game 2 Tuesday August 22 at 6:00 pm on Ogden field.

MW’s Coed team earned second place honors this weekend as they fought their way through a grueling playoff schedule that included 4 games on Sunday to make it to the championship series against Squeeze Play.

No commentsMarch-Westin defeats Jackies, moves on to next round.
It took all 7 innings but MW was able to survive the late rally by Jackies and with some clutch hitting of their own secured a victory and a spot in the playoffs 2nd round.
MW who continues to play without their starting pitcher James only walked a pair of batters and had several offensive highlights. Namely Randy had a pair of triples, along with Wimer who had one of his own. Also, Jackson showed some uncharacteristic discipline at the plate as he took a walk, after which he would later score on a hit by Nick.
Jackies kept the game close by putting up 6 runs in the 5th inning and then adding 2 more to that in the 6th inning, tying the game at 12. But Scott was able to punch a hit through in the infield in the bottom of the 7th, scoring Jonathan for the game winning run. Final score: MW 13, Jackie’s 12.
The scorebook can be viewed here.
MW will take the filed Monday night as they face Frank’s in the 2nd round of the BOPARC playoffs. These two teams did not play each other during the regular season so it is sure to be an exciting game. Game time is slated for 6pm.
No commentsMW Stumbles, Jackie’s Ties Series
March-Westin struggled early once again as they faced Jackie’s Place in the second game of a best of three playoff series.
MW continued to be plagued by walks and poor hitting in the early innings of last nights game. It wasn’t until the 5th inning that March-Westin, when faced with the need to score 4 runs just to continue playing, started producing some offensive results.
MW would rally again in the 6th and 7th innings to bring the score to 16-15, but it was too little too late for Westin who left the game tying run stranded at third base.
Highlights from last nights game include Nicks offensive performance going 3-4 with a pair of doubles (one of which was the after effect of a blast to tree line in right center field). Wimer hustled out an in the park home run of his own and Johnathan helped turn a 5-4-3 double play when he was moved to 3rd base after Johnny took the mound.
The series will continue to a final game 3 tonight at 8pm.
