MW puts MR Trophies on the Mantle

March Westin defeated MR Trophies on Sunday, June 22nd by a score of 12-2 in what ended up being another challenge for MW to field an entire team.

Work, weddings, and a lack of information are just a few of the reasons that MW seems to struggle finding elite athletes to fill their absences (SIDE NOTE:  MWBALL.com is always updated, not knowing we had a game is a poor excuse) (SIDE NOTE 2:  everyone has these things called cell phones that are a wonderful technological advancement, call if you can’t make it or even texting is an acceptable form of notification).

A few people stepped up in crunch time to provide support for what ended up being another MW victory.  Jason Dean returned to his catching duties and contributed with a single while Jeff sacrificed his own health to fill in admirably at shortstop.  It is not known at this time if Jeff’s injury is related to a previous injury reported here at mwball.com.

MW had control throughout the entire game led by a homerun by Nick.  This is Nick’s first homerun in 5 games leading many to believe that the new performance enhancing drug test are having an effect on his performance.

Wimer once again played well defensively at second base and for all you fantasy players out there, 3 more games and he gains second base eligibility.  Dave showed up late to the game but came up big when inserted into the game delivering a bases loaded double in his first at bat continuing his torid hot streak at the plate.

Tom continues to be mired in an awful slump however came close to snapping out of it when he hit a deep drive to left center before being caught but we all know that close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.  Tom also indicated that he might make a major change in the March Westin machine, updates when they become available.

March Westin will take the field again on 6/25/08 in a double header at 6 & 7 on Whiston.

Homerun Chase – Nick – 4, Jennings – 1, Wimer – 1

Busch Leaguers slam MW

March Westin lost to Busch Leaguers by a score of 15-0.  March Westin was forced to take the field with only 9 players as some members of the team were apparently afraid of the rain that never happened and never showed up to the game.

March Westin will take the field on Sunday, June 22nd against MR Trophies.

MW Drowns Brew Crew

MW coasted to victory in their makeup game Sunday night against Brew Crew, 23-6.

After a game that started with numerous walks the pitching from Brew Crew calmed down, but this only served to allow MW to turn up their offense and aggressive base running.  A couple highlights include Dave going  4-4 from the plate and Jared legging out an in the park HR.

But the real story with MW is not what is going on with the offense, nor is it what is going on with the defense.  The real drama is taking place in the GMs office.  Coach Tom has come under much fire as of recently as he has abandoned last years (perhaps half hearted) attempt to rotate playing time throughout the lineup.  This year playing time is at the sole discretion of Tom, which not surprisingly has caused some controversy amongst the ranks.

Tom is reportedly determining playing time and batting order position based on performance, leading many of the players to become amateur statisticians in order to aid in their ability to debate for their spot in the lineup.  However this may be all for not according to some rumors that indicate that Tom is also planning to use playing time as a form of disciplinary action.  It remains to be seen if Tom is able to stand up to the heat that comes along with his new found dictatorship.

As always MWBall will continue to bring you coverage of this story as it becomes available.

MW on fire; Roasts Chestnut Ridge

March-Westin returned to the diamond Wednesday night after going deep into the WV State Qualifier tournament, eventually losing to Motown Softball (of the BOPARC Open Flight league).

This week MW would take on an up and coming Chestnut Ridge Church team, lead by Pro Bowl Quarterback Jeff Hostetler.  But The Hoss was no match for the March-Westin offense as MW continually punched line drives through the infield.

MW looked solid in the field as well, this in spite of a muddled lineup where James, Jackson, and Dave were all absent; forcing Wimer to move to 2b and Jason Dean to be called up for active duty.

Offensive highlights for MW include Wimer going 4-5 and nearly hitting for the cycle (needed a HR), Jared was 3-4, and Jeff who was 4-5 included a bases loaded double in the top of the 7th.

MW went on to claim victory by a final score of 15-8.
